Get the Look ft. Rebecca Ramsdale

Creative Minds

We recently enlisted the help of blogger babe Rebecca Ramsdale (@rebeccaramsdale) to style some of our favourite Little Burgundy fall arrivals and learn a little about her closet -so much of which is expertly thrifted- as well as the inspiration behind her blog.

Tell us a little about yourself

I am a fashion & beauty blogger living in Toronto with my boyfriend Pat and our dog Charlotte. Originally from just outside the city, I moved to Toronto four years ago to pursue a career in fashion. Since then, I have found my place working for a small business, which gives me enough time to pursue my passions on the side.

I love travelling and am hoping to do a lot more of it in the coming months. I try and take an annual trip to NYC, but would love to spend more time exploring Europe. Paris so far would have to be my favourite place I’ve travelled, so I’m hoping to book a trip back very soon.

Guilty pleasures: watching beauty videos on YouTube (I’m obsessed with makeup and skincare), and watching Friends on Netflix (probably have watched the whole series three times through LOL).

What inspired you to start your blog?

I started my blog to fulfill the need of being creative for myself. Up until that point, I was working in creative jobs but always creating for somebody else’s vision. I wanted to do something for myself that I had full creative control over, and that would allow me to remember who I was and what I was in to.

How would you describe your style?

My style is typically a mix of men’s and women’s clothing. I find myself most drawn to classic pieces (trousers, blazers), but I prefer to wear them in a super casual way. I feel most like myself in cooler weather when I can layer and really mix patterns and colours.

We've noticed you're really into thrifting - tell us about one of your craziest thrift shop finds.

I am super into thrifting! It’s such a great way to renew your wardrobe in an environmentally conscious way. My craziest thrift find would actually be a story of the one that got away’. About 7 years ago I stumbled across the most perfect pair of Versace mum jeans’ in this beautiful thick denim that I ended up putting back because they were a bit too big at the time. Knowing now that they would fit perfectly, I still kick myself for not having spent the $14 in hopes that they would one day fit.

How does living in Toronto influence your style?

Living in Toronto has really allowed me to express myself through what I wear. Getting dressed here is more so a creative outlet rather than just a necessity. I feel a lot more comfortable having fun and thinking outside the box with what I’m wearing because I know I’m not being judged for being who I am.

If you could steal anyone’s wardrobe, whose would it be?

This may be a common answer among many fashion bloggers, but Courtney Trop of Always Judging. She has such a strong mix of clothing suitable for many styles so I feel like I’d always be able to dress to suit the mood I was in.

I’d also gladly steal the wardrobe of a little elderly man. I find a lot of outfit inspo from the cute elderly men that live in my neighbourhood.

Which shoes in your closet have the most history?

I have a pair of white Nike Air Force Ones that my boyfriend Pat bought me after a year of being together. Five years later and they’re still one of my favourite pairs of shoes.
