MEET SOPHIA BEL
Self-proclaimed sad girl, Sophia Bel sits at the intersection of hypnotizing electro-pop and her early-2000s emo influences. After making a name for herself on Quebec’s hit show La Voix, she managed to carve out a place for her music by embracing the melancholy and the truth of her experiences. Having released her first E.P. Princess of the Dead, Vol. I, Sophia has only just begun reppin’ it for the 90s emo kids.

An artist reclaiming the sad girl narrative
We were lucky enough to have Sophia Bel give a live performance on our Instagram as part of our LB Live series. Get to know her more by diving into her world below:
How would you describe your art? Picture Moby, Dido and Blink-182 having a very sentimental baby.
How does your art express who you are? It’s the only thing I know how to do besides Netflix and cooking. It’s also how I’ve been able to process my thoughts and emotions for most of my life.
Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in rediscovering old songs and memories, watching movies, spending time outdoors, sharing experiences with friends, but also by getting my heart shred into tiny pieces. |
