In just two short years, Kallitechnis, the Montreal-born singer, songwriter and dancer, has been making waves on the music scene. From performing at Osheaga to releasing music with Pusha T and Kaytranada, her “colourful” music is all about self-expression. Her mantra “Soul Over Ego” is a reminder that our soul’s needs should always outweigh our ego’s wants, a concept Kallitechnis aims to convey in her new single “Untouchable”, debuting today. An emerging songstress pouring her soul into her work. How would you describe your art? My art is a release. It’s therapy. It’s everything I love, or have loved, fused into an experience to be appreciated by the senses. My art is tender and honest, and most importantly, it comes from the soul! How does your art allow you to express yourself? It gives me a chance to explore the strengths of vulnerability. I get to share a range of emotions with the world through music, be it through lyrics or dance, or cover art, or even a caption on social media. I get to be free and uninhibited in a way that heals me; a way that also has the potential to heal others. I get to cultivate a community of acceptance through what I choose to say, and I get to make people feel safe and heard by using my public platform to unify my listeners through common experience. My art allows me to create an entire reality, which often goes way beyond sound. It’s truly a privilege to be an independent artist and to express and create on terms that are most authentic to one’s self. Where do you find inspiration? I find inspiration in colours. I find inspiration in selfhood and identity. I find inspiration in my existential crisis. I find inspiration in the forces that bring people together, as well as the ones that tear them apart. I find inspiration in the ongoing battle my soul is having with my ego. A lot of my songs are about that perpetual tug of war. |

What is your go-to shoe? Either a Nike AF1 or a Converse Chuck 70 high-top. The funkier/more colourful the edition, the better! I love a sneaker that makes a statement.
