Time to celebrate: today is Air Max Day!
Today is a good day.
Think back to when you were in school and it was your homie’s birthday. Even though it wasn’t YOUR birthday, you still knew there was gonna be a party. Well, today is Air Max Day, and that’s why it’s a good day. One of the most OG shoes of all time turns 31 this year - woot woot.
On March 26th, 1987, this staple was released by Tinker Hatfield - Nike’s larger-than-life creator who has reached superstar status. Hatfield designed the Air Max 1 after visiting the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. The inside of the building, visible from the outside, was his inspiration and that’s when he decided to make the inside of the shoe visible to everyone. Air cushioning - or visible air - was born and to this day, people still can’t get enough of it.
This one is definitely here to stay. Air Max aficionados all over the world celebrate Mr. Hatfield’s work today by wearing their fave pair. So if you don’t own one, today is a good day to change that and celebrate with fellow sneaker lovers with a brand new pair of Air Max on your feet.
Happy #airmaxday y’all!
